Pocztówkowe opowieści

Pierwsza kartka z UNESCO :) Przedstawia Verla Groundwood and Board Mill czyli fabrykę ścieru i tektury. Tak miło się składa, że interesuję się produkcją papieru być może z racji mojego kierunku, być może dlatego, że dość często trafiam do miejsc związanych z tym zagadnieniem.. :)

Fabryka została wpisana na listę UNESCO ze względu na kryterium kulturowe - jest ona wyjątkowym i nadzwyczaj dobrze zachowanym przykładem przemysłu papierniczego na małą skalę, który rozwinął się w XIX i na początku XX wieku w Europie i Ameryce Północnej.

Co fajniejsze w tej kartce, że jest ona nietypowego formatu - 13x9 cm i jest ona zrobiona z tekturki.. Najbardziej kojarzy mi się ona z takimi papierowymi podkładkami pod kufle z piwem (tzw. wafle :)), które zazwyczaj spotyka się w pubach.. Szorstkie, nie za cieńkie, nie za grube :) Taka tekturka ma jakąś zwiększoną chłonność wody ;)

Znaczek też niczego sobie.. co najśmieszniejsze stemepl był w przeciwnym rogu i to prawie same fale :D

My first UNESCO postcard :) presents Verla Groundwood and Board Mill. So nice, because I'm interested in the production of paper... may be it is due to my studies, perhaps because quite often I go to places related to this issue .. :)

From UNESCO www site: "The Committee decided to inscribe the nominated property on the basis of cultural criterion (iv) considering that the Groundwood and Board Mill and its associated habitation is an outstanding and remarkably well preserved example of the small-scale rural industrial settlement associated with pulp, paper, and board production that flourished in northern Europe and North America in the 19th and early 20th centuries, of which only a handful survives to the present day."

What's the best in this postcar is unusual format - 13x9 cm and is made fromhmm.. hard to find good word in english for that.. cardboard? .. I link it with paper beer paper, which we can usually meets in pubs.. Rough, not too thin, not too thick:)

Funny hing - postal seal is in the opposite corner and is almost the same waves :D
